New Vegan Galaxy Chocolate Bars: Thoughts and a Sensory Evaluation

The Vegan Galaxy bars from Mars were released in 2019, just in time for the holiday season. Since then, it has been the talk of the town. We were compelled to give them a try because this is the first foray into plant-based by a well-known confectionery company that provides consumers with a dairy-free chocolate substitute. There will be a bar for everyone, as it was introduced in three different flavors: Caramel & Sea Salt, Caramelized Hazelnut, and Smooth Orange.

Finding the target audience and efficiently segmenting them is one of the main difficulties we encounter in the plant-based category of NPD. There are various varieties of vegans. Before we even get into the diverse realm of flexitarians, you have junk food vegans, health-conscious vegans, zero-waste vegans, high-end vegans, raw vegans, etc. It’s an exploratory minefield, but it’s terrific to see MARS taking it on head-on and doing it effectively.

The new galaxy chocolate bar, which substitutes almond paste for dairy, is said to have a better flavor than previous vegan white chocolate brands. The hazelnuts, hazelnut paste, raisins, and cocoa that go into making the Topic bar.

The Launching of Vegan Galaxy Chocolate Bars

In 2019, Mars introduced its first vegan Galaxy bars, becoming the first significant candy brand to do so. The bars were first offered in three flavors: Caramel with Sea Salt, Smooth Orange, and Caramelized Hazelnut. Another flavor was introduced at the end of 2019 the vegan Bounty and Topic bars and a Mars drink plant-based made with oat milk in 2020.

Galaxy is a trusted brand by many families, and they were pleased to know that it has a vegan collection to satisfy the cravings of vegan chocolate lovers.

What Makes Vegan Galaxy Popular?

Each pack’s brilliant, highly pigmented color fits in well with Galaxy’s aspirations for robust, opulent flavor. The paint-like swipe on the front of the pack is unique in stores, but it lacks depth when compared to the optically rich and creamy waves on the original glossy Galaxy pack. According to some who have tasted the chocolate bar, you wouldn’t expect the products to taste the same or have the same texture as the core galaxy SKU.

The Rising Trend of Vegan

However, the fact that Mars has entered the market is a significant development for the trend as a whole. In addition, they are confident that the bars will appeal to a demographic that extends beyond ardent vegans. These new bars are ideal for consumers who are trying to cut down on the amount of animal products they put into their bodies for a number of reasons, and many consumers fall into this category.

Confectionery firms can no longer afford to ignore the vegan trend, which, as the movement gains traction, will very likely transform from a “trend” into a “permanent shift” in the market. In short, confectionery companies can no longer afford to ignore the vegan trend. The success of the vegan Galaxy chocolate is a clear indication of its growing trend.
